Now in its 22nd year, South African Fashion Week is our country’s only B2B fashion platform. It is focused on developing, marketing and promoting all participants across the full value chain of our creative fashion industry. From fashion designers, make-up and hair artists, producers, dressers and models, SAFW continues to be the driving force behind structuring, strengthening and growing a consciousness of the enormous socio-economic value of a vibrant South African fashion design culture.
An integral part of SAFW’s ability to tell the stories curated by our designers, both nationally and internationally, are our models. SAFW is excited to announce, in collaboration with the Mall of Africa that they will be running Africa’s Face of Fashion Ladies during the Mall of Africa womenswear Designer Pop-Up Shop, which will take place during regular shopping mall trading hours in the Crystal Court, Mall of Africa, between 06 – 08 September 2019.
Are you, or is there someone you know, who may be interested in participating? First and foremost, it’s vital to note that modelling is a business – a career like any other. Modelling takes commitment and hard work and there are several important factors to be aware of. SAFW looks for uniquely talented individuals, who, in addition to being healthy, exude a strong presence. Further, there are certain height and weight requirements to ensure that the designer collections are presented in the most beautiful way. SAFW takes immense pride in fostering the development of their models with the assistance of their agency partners and focusses their search on those that have both the desire and ambition to pursue a career in fashion.
The prize for the lucky winner of the Africa’s Face of Fashion Ladies, Mall of Africa, includes representation by leading agency BOSS Model Management in Johannesburg. In addition, the winner will be awarded a R10 000 gift voucher from the Mall of Africa. Furthermore, finalists will be part of installations during the Mall of Africa Ladieswear Designer Pop-Up Shop and will automatically be cast in the SAFW Autumn/Winter 2020 Collections.
