Former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, who also happens to be the founder of CR Fashion Book has just made a newsworthy announcement. She is taking things virtual while we are all stuck indoors due to lockdown and is introducing us to Fashion Unites – a special CR Runway global event with amfAR Against the Coronavirus.
What makes this so special? Well, Carine Roitfeld Runway will be a first-of-its-kind virtual fashion show that will bring together some of the industry’s biggest names to “offer a moment of creative inspiration and uplifting entertainment for everyone doing their part by staying home while raising awareness for research efforts led by the amfAR Fund to Fight COVID-19.”
Best selling author and TV personality, Derek Blasberg, will be hosting the event which will be streamed across the globe exclusively on YouTube. Some of the A-listers you can expect to see will include Jasmine Sanders, Winnie Harlow, Joan Smalls, Alexander Wang, Irina Shayk, Hailey Bieber, Adriana Lima, Diane von Fürstenberg, Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ashley Graham and Kim Kardsashian West.
This show will be nothing short of exceptional as this will be the first self-filmed fashion show captured by models themselves, wearing pieces from their own personal closets which have been styled remotely by Roitfeld and her team.
In addition, backstage footage will be included of all the work that went into the worldwide collaboration along with messages of hope from designers to those risking their lives to fight the pandemic.
To aid research efforts in overcoming the virus, amfAR created the amfAR Fund to Fight COVID-19, which will provide its state-of-the-art resources and expertise to help support the development of treatments for the coronavirus. The half hour runway show will stream worldwide on YouTube this evening, Friday May 1 at 10PM. So be sure to tune in!
