The Oscars 2024 had some absolutely phenomenal moments that have splashed across news headlines within the last 24 hours. So before getting into the best of the red carpet fashion, let’s talk about those moments.
My personal favourite was most definitely Ryan Gosling’s passionate and flawlessly choreographed rendition of the Barbie Movie’s hit ‘I’m Just Ken.’ Gosling was covered head-to-toe in that barbie doll pink we all know and love and was spectacularly bedazzled in fuchsia rhinestones. He dipped into the audience and encouraged his close friends and cast to sing along with him and include them in the performance.
Up next, we have to talk about John Cena gracing the stage in… well, nothing. The wrestler turned actor, presented ‘The Award For Best Costume Design,’ with nothing but a pair of slides and an envelope to cover up the mere necessities.
The most adorable and wholesome event to take place was the ‘Award For Best Supporting Dog.’ Black and white border collie, Messi, who played Snoop in the French courtroom drama got some decent screen time as the evening progressed. He donned a gorgeous black bow whilst sitting on his red velvet seat. Messi also confidently applauded along with the crowd when Downey Jr received his win by raising up his paws.
With all the devastating tragedy that is currently happening in the world, I would be remiss not to mention the fact that the event as a whole was delayed due to protestors blocking the streets as they chanted “Ceasefire Now” in support of those currently trapped in a living nightmare in Palestine. Their message was clear and has been heard by millions across the globe. I do applaud them for the level of attention they managed to capture with this protest.
However for some lightheartedness, I am redirecting my post back to one of the best parts about the Oscars – the red carpet. Instead of naming simply those I thought were “the best” looks, I am just going to list those that I thought stood out the most. Whether they are good or bad, is entirely up to you.
